Located on historic South Street, Theatre of Living Arts is Philadelphia’s premiere small events venue with a long history. Known as Philadelphia’s “Black Box” theatre since its re-birth as a theatre in 1963, the venue holds approximately 1,000 occupants. Live Nation purchased the venue in 2006 and provided extensive renovations.

In 2017, Live Nation set out to make the facility more accessible to patrons. Woodcock Design provided design services to upgrade the facility capacity, provide new state-of-the-art theatre seating, expand existing bars and mezzanines to maximize revenue, and provide new finishes to ‘warm-up’ the space while still keeping the “Black Box” environment that patrons visit the TLA to experience.

Woodcock Design re-configured the existing mezzanine to maximize capacity and provide ample viewing areas for both seated and standing customers. We achieved this by working directly with the facility management team and contractors through 3D visualization.
